Not many people here know me personally, but i work in a clinic and i do a lot of rescue and adoptions on the side in my free time. I have decided to make a blog listing all the animals i have or know of that need a home, their story's and also past adoption / rescues. It would be nice if you took some time to go check it out. yea, finally i have got a new camera. no more excuses for crappy photos. i have upgraded from my 5pmx point a shoot casio that i bought for nothing from a random person selling repaired cameras on craigs list. as in bussed to his sketch apartment in the middle of the ghetto and went into a sketch apartment building to find his apartment and meet him. don't get me wrong, that little guy has done me very well and will partake in many more drunken escapades with me, untill they will be the end of him. but for a more professional aspect i have this bad ass. I'm pretty excited.

i have never been a big fan of meat, eggs, milk, anything that comes from farmed animals. Meat because i find it gross, i mean its like considering road kill dinner in my eyes. not to mention how they go about raising meat animals. the other bi-products, because of how pumped and inhumain the animals and buisness is.

i took these photos when i was in houston the other week.

apparently fog is rare there, it was extermly foggy every morning i was there for some reason.

we got lost trying to find a place at 9am and ended up driving by this feild in the roughest part of the city.

i had to pull over and snap a shot, disite how scared i was of the area i was in.

so yea this is a bit weird but hey. I took these pictures in my histology class last week with a camera we are able to attach to the microscope to take microscopic pictures! i find is completely fascinating. It took weeks, many, many steps, and a lot of trial and error to get to his point. From cutting the tissue, fixing it, dehydrating, impregnating with wax, cutting with microtomes, floating the ribbons of tissue in water bath, mounting on slides, a hour and a half of steps to dye the tissue, then paramounting the cover slip on, (every step has a hundred and two different ways to fuck up) to finally look under the microscope and cross your fingers everything is alright, no rips, folds, blade marks, dye clumps, ect. So point being, appreciate these pictures! I was not planning on putting them up here, I took them because I have to make a project now with the two tissues. The first three are skin slices and the last five are a diseased prostate slices. There is actually and entire story behind the disease prostate, I have the entire case history or a poor doggy with a family who loved him dearly (spay and neuter your pets people, to prevent this cancer, among many other reasons like the 80, 000 animals we put down a year at our one SPCA because of over population due to irresponsible owners how think puppies and kitties are cute… do get me started) To get to the point, I put these here because without knowing what you are looking at. They are completely mind boggling and capturing with how abstract they are, but if you look to closley your brain starts making up patterns. They remind me of some paintings people have on their walls. I'm thinking I might actually enlarge and frame the second one. Who knew how beautiful and artsy skin can be. If I had a lot more time to kill I think I could really get into photographing tissues and making them into framed art pieces. I don’t have a picture of it, but the heart actually makes really nice ones, if you cross section it right it’s a spiral of pink and blue. I also have slides on the spleen, brain, kidney, testicle, and liver, i might try and take pictures of.

I woke up this morning and saw the sun gleaming through my window, it's been a while since we have seen the sun in montreal. I couldn't help but be inspired by it. i realize i am taking far to many photos of myself. It would be nice to maybe have some people model for me, but i just get awkward around people, im really not a people person. i always know exactly what i want in my head, so if you want something done the way you want do it yourself, right? plus there is not always someone at my disposal when i have my creative rampages. So i therefore i often become the subject of my own photos, does that make me vein, or just someone whos a little anal. hmmm. putting that aside, in the end i am very happy with how these came out. Although i only did this in about 10 minutes, i think i will try and get a bit more creative when i have time later.

D for Dogs

this is my ABC wednessday post: my take is D for Dogs (original i know) i would like to be more original but i cant help it. i took the cutest pictures of my dogs goofing around this week, to here they are.

if you can not tell from the photos, they are so in love with each other. It is really really cute. My dog is the little blonde one and the white one is my sisters dog. It's ironic however, i actually got my dog because he was brough to the vet clinic i work at to be put to sleep at 1 years old for snapping at another dog. I am so glad i was working that night to steal him away, what a shame it would have been, he has been such a blessing to me.

I am very excited about my first “right place, right time” photo! I always see those “right place, right time” photos on the web, or going around in chain mails. They amaze me in the irony, luck, coincidence, it takes to capture those off moments that you could never even try to set up on your own. Well going through my old photos, I realized I have one of those! I don’t understand how I didn’t see this two years ago when I took the photo, but it looks like he is about to snack on the tree!! This was taken at the stable my horse lives at, but unfortunately this is not my horse. Horses are such funny creatures.

This started out with me simply trying to sell these boots on craigs list, but i got a bit carried away and ended up with this. In taking these pictures i actually realized how beautiful the boots are, and had never even notcied it was a egale on them untill i looked at the photos. In hind sight wish i didnt wear a black dress, i didnt realize when i put it on that a balck dress on a black background would not show up haha. but at the same time i think it maybe added to the whole picture? hmmm. Oh well.

on my vacation to cayman this year we went and vistited the house i grew up in, it had been 6 years. I lived in it from when i was 7-14. so many memories. The unique thing about our house was our backyard, we kept it natural and just made pathways through the forest. The yard has been pretty neglected for the past few years since we left, everything was very overgrown, the pond and stream up mom set up to run through it was in ruins, the pathways barley walkable, but still kept that speical get-away feeling i always found in it. sometimes things are better left as memories.
